Social Media & Website Management

In April 2012, I was brought on to assist (and later manage) an HIV prevention campaign called Project HIM (Healthy Iowa Men) for the AIDS Project of Central Iowa (APCI). This awareness campaign and behavioral intervention program which ran until around the fall of 2017 aimed to normalize and destigmatize HIV and STI testing among high-risk populations in Central Iowa. It was a multimedia strategy that consisted of print and digital media, placements at local establishments, community outreach, and peer group mobilization.

The campaign produced several short videos featuring local members of the target demographic, highlighting the importance of testing/screening in preventing HIV/STI infection and transmission. Toward the end of the campaign, it also introduced and educated the public about Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).

I was also tasked by the Iowa Department of Public Health's Bureau of HIV/AIDS Program to create and manage the social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) of their Stop HIV Iowa campaign, which I managed from around 2015-2017.

During this period, I managed and curated content for APCI's social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram; as well as a separate set of channels for Project HIM including a YouTube channel (all of which are now offline for privacy and confidentiality reasons); and both of their websites. In 2014, APCI was acquired by Primary Health Care, Inc. (PHC) and became known as The Project of PHC. And in 2015, the creation and management of PHC's social media and website were also added to my responsibilities. This included their Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube accounts, as well as the Google Business listings for each of the PHC locations and programs (14 listings) throughout Central Iowa.
